We are Southport Cares
We are an independent 501c3 non-profit formed solely for the purpose to help those in need in our community get back on their feet. We are 100% volunteer with no overhead, allowing us to put every dollar donated towards our cause. While we are not associated directly with the City of Southport,our board is made up of members from Southport Police, Fire and Rescue and a City Alderman who wanted to make a difference in our community that went beyond traditional efforts, and to also rally the community around the people we see in need and show them that the community is there for them when they are down on their luck.
We Believe in..
God – We are on this earth to serve Him and helping and serving others is one of the best ways to honor Him and all He sacrificed.
Community – We can solve so many things through Community. We can lift up others that are down through Community – and they raise us up in return. Imagine a community where nobody faces challenges alone because their community is there to keep them from falling.

Our Team is..
Our team is made up of each and every member of the Southport Police, Fire and Rescue Departments who not only serve their sworn duties each and every day, but also have a passion for the safety and well being of every resident and visitor to our Community. Our team is also the local community banding together to make a difference in people’s lives when they need us most.
PROGRAMS WE DONATE TO
The Southport Police Department runs a program to help buy toys for kids during the holidays. The campaign supports parents who need assistance with buying their kids toys for the holidays. It is a great time for our police officers to bond with kids and families in the community, and our local citizens and businesses rally around this cause every year.
Car Seat Safety Checks
The Southport Fire Department conducts regular safety inspections for vehicle child safety seats. On occasion, and for people in financial need, we also replace seats that do not meet standards free of charge so that a child’s safety is never put at risk.
Southport Fire Dept. Sponsors Child Burn Fund
The Southport Fire Department is a sponsor of the Firefighter’s Burned Children Fund. We accept donations and also collect aluminum cans that are cashed in to help support the cause. The trailer is staged in the back parking lot of Southport Fire Headquarters at 1011 North Howe Street in Southport.
